Octogenarian former Chairman passes away

1 year ago By John Anderson

Neville "Chipper" Ayres .

Holmer Green Football Club has sadly learned that former Chairman Neville "Chipper" Ayres had passed away on Tuesday 2nd May, aged 84. Neville was remembered as a very committed and effective figurehead back in the day when the Club was still playing on The Common up to 1975. Neville completed 14 years as Chairman. He was also the " 1st XI Linesman" when the Club had to provide a Referee's Assistant in the Wycombe League. "Chipper" was renowned within in The Club as an outstanding, reliable, and totally honest Linesman. In the days when not every club Linesman could be described in such terms.
