With Dean Munday and Eliot Derby back, Holmer started much more assuredly than at Leighton two days before. The game was fairly even after a blitz start from The Wares, but Holmer were beginning to probe for openings when the first significant moment occurred on 31 minutes. With Edgware being caught 2 on 2 with a Holmer break on halfway, Matt Wooster was seriously taken out as he played a one two. The Referee, who was well placed, adjudged this to be an unfortunate collision only worthy of a free-kick. This decision was difficult for Holmer to accept, but they did fashion a couple of half chances before the break which indicated a favourable second 45 minutes. HT 0-0
On 55 minutes Dean Munday found the outside of the Edgware post with a stooping header. On 78 minutes an Eliot Derby inspired chance fell to Jamie Britnell. But as he sorted his feet out, a defender was able to deflect his effort onto the face of a post. On 85 minutes Tom Peddle-James found himself in on goal but his volley fizzed across the Edgware goal. However, the winner had been coming. An accurate Curtis Stone free-kick, aimed at Ryan Parsons, Munday, and Britnell, was accidentally or involuntarily helped into the net by a defender as the ‘keeper was expecting one of the three named attackers to get at the ball.
Edgware finally resorted to the all-out assault, but The Greens held firm.
