After a First Round bye, Holmer Green have been given their biggest-ever home examination. Alan Devonshire's United will be coming to Holmer Green, in what will be a stern test for Chris Allen's side. In theory, Maidenhead are ranked 109th in the National Football system. They play at Step One of The Non-League Pyramid as opposed to The Greens' Step Five. The Greens Step Five status will be properly tested whichever side the Berkshire club puts out.
In The Emirates FA Cup, United put out Chippenham Town after a home replay in front of 738 spectators at York Road before taking on 2008 FA Cup Winners Portsmouth at York Road. Therefore the arranging of the date for this tie at Watchet Lane took no little effort as Maidenhead have plenty of other commitments!
United have been through a torrid spell by their recent standards, but Holmer will have to be at their dogged best to prevent a big loss in this their biggest-ever competitive match. With Club Record Scorer Dave Tarpey added to the Maidenhead squad over the weekend, The Greens will have to be at their very best to give United a meaningful game.
The large crowd expected should make parking in Watchet Lane, and indeed that side of the village, quite a conundrum.
