Parsons scores his third goal of the season

Ten-man Holmer battle back for another important point

The Greens have a fairly respectable record at Lowfield, but things did not seem good when Tom Fifield was shown a Red
Card for a badly mistimed tackle after only four minutes. This when challenging for the ball in the centre of the pitch, with no particular danger in prospect. Without Derby and Gant, James Jarrott had come in at right-back giving his usual reliable performance despite his young age. Gary Lines returned from suspension. Holmer regrouped well after the early set-back and during the first half they came very close to scoring from corners and free kicks on numerous occasions. Dean Munday had at least three headers cleared off the line and, with both Ryan Parsons and Pawel Kotwica suffering similar outcomes. But the home side had a purple patch and scored with breakaway on 12 minutes. They then hit both posts in quick succession, before Holmer regained a foothold in the game.
HT 1-0
Playing with ten men for so long began to tell almost immediately after half-time, and Town looked as they might take control as The Greens were not able to put the home goal under much threat. Kieron Vickers made two good early saves, and this encouraged the other nine to work hard and dig in, so to speak. First Martin Lancaster, and then Jamie Britnell were thrown on to supply fresh legs. Vickers had to be at this best twice more during the second period, and Matt Wooster came on with ten minutes left. This final change seemed to invigorate The Greens, and the home goal eventually seemed to be threatened again. On 90 minutes a set-piece finally brought success. After being fortunate to survive the many first half lofted corner kicks from Curtis Stone, a low driven one to the near post caught Hoddesdon out. Parsons was the individual beneficiary as he steered the ball into the net. There was even time for Holmer to have a half-chance to snatch a win. Britnell turned smartly out wide and lofted the ball towards goal. But the ‘keeper just had enough height and position to intercept the ball
on its route towards goal. The point took the visitors one more place up the table
