Holmer earn sixth away point as they more than double the figure in their away goals column

Stone, Britton, and Powles, on target as The Greens pick up useful awayday point in high-scoring game.

Holmer overcame a first minute goal by the home side, and a penalty scored by Tuffley on the half hour.
Coming from behind twice through a Curtis Stone free-kick (28 minutes), and an Elliot Britton 45th minute strike to make it 2-2 at the break.
A diving header from Dean Powles on 49 minutes was countered by Rovers on 57 minutes, when Dean Munday turned a cross into his own goal.

From Rob Shed
A dour struggle on a pudding of a pitch. Holmer hung on in the end for a 3-3 draw. Denying Rovers the double over Holmer, and keeping the Gloucester side in deep trouble near the foot of the table.
Tuffley set off like hares and scored in the first minute while Holmer were shaking off their coach legs from the 2 1/2 hour journey. Holmer re-gathered themselves and during a good spell for them, Powles won a free kick on the edge of the Tuffley box and Stone curled in a neat free kick into the top corner for a well- deserved equaliser. Almost from the restart Tuffley attacked, and Ryll was adjudged to have held a Tuffley player. A hotly contested penalty was given. The Tuffley player was heard to admit that he fell over his own feet. Brown in the Holmer goal has had a good record of saving penalties, but had no chance with the blast from the Tuffley 9. Showing great determination though, Holmer were back level just on HT. From a Holmer corner the ball came out to young Elliott Britton who fired the equaliser from the edge of the box.

Holmer started the second half strongly and a Powles diving header made it 2-3. However midway through the half when looking good for 3 points Holmer lost momentum when Munday turned a Tuffley goal attempt into his own net. At 3-3 Tuffley had chances to win, but Holmer battled on for the remaining minutes to share the points.
So, a long way to go but a better return than the previous two long distance trips. 4 of the team were products of the Holmer Youth team, so the policy of growing local players to play at step 5 is still paying off. Grassroots football is alive and kicking in Holmer Green!
