Step Four Uxbridge have a new Manager, and having beaten Harefield United 9-1 at Preston Park on Saturday they were expected to be too strong for the current embryonic Holmer set-up. Goals came at fairly regular intervals, and while Holmer had some very promising passages of play any defensive or midfield laxity soon had the visitors on the front foot. The Reds' centre-forward showed the finishing ability and directness of someone who had been scoring regularly at Step 3 last season. Holmer battled bravely, but were well beaten. With the first league game in only 11 days time, they will know that no Hellenic League opponent is likely to be anywhere as good as this promising Uxbridge XI.
